NO NEW TAXES AND SCHOOLS STILL RECEIVE $90M
WHY SUPPORT BALLOT ISSUE 4A?
Better Schools with no increase in taxes
Durango School District 9-R is on the tail end of paying off bond debt from 2002. Therefore, we are in a unique position to request authorization from the voters for up to $90M in additional money without any financial increase to residential or commercial property owners. All debt will be paid off with the existing tax rates.
We can secure up to approximately $90M in funding for capital projects, deferred maintenance and infrastructure improvements at all Durango 9-R schools. Funding will also be shared with all three charter schools - The Juniper School, Mountain Middle School, and Animas High School - to assists with their most urgent capital needs. The bond will be repaid over a 15-20 year period.
HOW WOULD THE MONEY BE USED?
Safety and innovation are top priorities
Funding will be used for:
Safety and Security
Deferred maintenance
Technology
Rebuilding Miller Middle School
Innovative Career and Technology Center
